The information in this article applies to:

  • NetNewsWire 2.x

You can subscribe to searches that bring you news items from all around the web, not just from feeds you are subscribed to.

Say you’re a big fan of the movie 'Star Wars', and you want to read what people are writing about it. Here’s how:

  1. Choose File > New Special Subscription > Search Engine…
  2. In the sheet that appears, type your search string—'Star Wars' or whatever you want to search for.
  3. Choose which search engine you want to use, then click the Subscribe button.

Editing a search engine subscription:
To change the search string or search engine:

  1. In the Subscriptions pane, select the search engine subscription you want to edit.
  2. Choose Window > Show Info.
  3. In the Info window, expand the Search Engine pane (if necessary) by clicking its disclosure triangle.
  4. Edit the search string or choose a new search engine.

The subscription is not refreshed automatically right away—choose News > Refresh to refresh it.
